Callenberg and Carnival Maritime take the prize at Shippax 2016 for reduced environmental footprint on AIDA ships

Callenberg Technology Group and Carnival Maritime have been awarded the 2015 Shippax Eco-Award. The award is based on the proven delivery of substantial energy savings and reduced environmental footprint for cruise vessels AIDAvita and AIDAaura.

The energy conservation project covered modifications of the ships HVAC* plant, one of the largest energy consumers on a cruise ship. On both ships, Callenberg deployed their True Demand™ automation technology, which responds to the continually changing ventilation demands on-board. In addition to delivering direct energy savings, the crew can constantly monitor and verify the status of each controlled unit, energy consumption, actual temperatures & pressures remotely.

“We are exceptionally proud of this award and grateful towards Carnival Maritime and AIDA for giving us the opportunity. Yet again, the industry recognises Callenberg as a leader in developments for the future of ship optimisation and Carnival Maritime as a leader in energy savings that reduces the environmental footprint. Our strategy of continuous innovation provides results for our customers and their reputation in a highly demanding industry” said Per-Erik Larsson, Sales Director, Callenberg Technology Group

The prestigious award was accepted at the 14th Annual Ferry Shipping Conference on April 13th, 2016 on-board M/V Silja Symphony.

“Our ships spend almost half of their time at the harbours of major metropolitan areas. The fact that we have managed to reduce emissions considerably, both at sea and in port is extremely important to AIDA Cruises.” said Sebastian Sala, Head of Innovation and Energy Management at Carnival Maritime. He added, “The high level of trust and respect between the turn-key supplier Callenberg and Carnival Maritime as well as the strong cooperation between Callenberg's project technicians as well as AIDAvita's and AIDAaura’s crew, were huge success factors. A big thanks goes to Callenberg's project management for the quality of work and precise scheduling.”
